The government is going to extend optical fiber cable line up to unions to ensure high speed internet connectivity at village level, said ICT department's Director General Banamali Bhowmick.

As the chief guest, he said this at the inauguration programme of a three-day training for entrepreneurs of all union digital centres (UDCs) at Thakurgaon deputy commissioner's office yesterday.

Trinomuler Tathyajanala Programme of ICT Division and Tathyaseba Barta Sangstha (TSB) jointly organised the event to provide training to the entrepreneurs of all union UDCs of Thakurgaon on 'writing reports and features and outsourcing and e-commerce'.

Bhowmick, also the additional secretary, said the government had undertaken two projects to cover all unions under broadband internet connectivity and the implementation of Infosarker-3, one of the two projects, will begin soon.

After implementation of the projects, all unions will come under high speed internet connectivity and then information centre will be set up at each village as desired by ICT affairs adviser to the prime minister.

Ajit Kumar Sarkar, senior journalist and communication specialist who attended the programme as special guest, said the training on writing reports and features will help UDC entrepreneurs to disseminate development and success stories of grass root level using social media and dynamic website of union parishad.

The writing skills of the UDC entrepreneurs will not only ensure free flow of grass root information but also help circulate products to be sold through e-commerce site, he said.

A total of 106 entrepreneurs of the district are taking part at the training programme.
